Hire Desk Controller New Entrant Training Programme
Course Overview
This programme is aimed at workers in the role of Hire Desk Operative or Hire Controller. Delegates attend a 5-week modular training programme, an on-site assessment, and are awarded a Level 2 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). The training focusses on sales and customer service techniques, as well as practical sessions on safe use and awareness on a wide range of tools and equipment.
The HAE EHA New Entrant Programme is part of the CITB suite of Specialist Applied-skills Programmes (SAP), as such learners receive additional support from CITB Apprentice Officers throughout their learning.

Programme Content
The new and improved training programme for 2024 includes visits to tools and equipment suppliers and manufacturers for hands-on experience, and the IOSH Working Safely awareness course.

Programme Delivery
The full programme runs over 18 months. This breaks down as 25 days off-the-job training, in 5 modules lasting approximately one week, delivered at intervals throughout this period. Delegates then concentrate on building a portfolio of evidence ahead of their NVQ assessment, and completion by month 18.

Programme Costs
A full 25-day programme costs £6,600 plus VAT which includes all the training, induction and on-site NVQ assessment required to complete the qualification. This amount can be invoiced in instalments upon request. CITB-registered companies can claim grant which would bring the overall cost down to £360 plus VAT. See below for details.
In addition, HAE EHA will cover the costs for hotel stays up to 25 nights (booked by our team). Delegates and/or employers will be responsible for covering travel and meal costs where applicable.
