The Brick Bud from Harris Brick Safety Systems is designed to prevent masonry wall blowdowns by its bricklayer inventor who suffered long-lasting injuries after an in-construction wall collapsed on him. This wall was propped by timber, a widespread practice in construction.

Designed to replace improvised bracing, the Brick Bud is an adjustable and reusable GRP frame suitable for all building levels that transfers any lateral (wind) loading on newly laid or freestanding masonry walls safely and securely to the floor. This solution, supported by specific temporary works design and engineered load calculations, prevents any movement and walls falling over due to high winds (up to 73mph).

Independently tested and designed in line with BS 5975-2: 2024, the Brick Bud aims to reduce site accidents or fatalities while demonstrating due diligence under health and safety legislation and potentially lowering insurance premiums.
