News Item: HAE EHA Supports Some Important Causes This Autumn and Winter

Each year, the Hire Association donates to organisations rather than sending out physical Christmas cards. As we near the end of 2025, three charities in particular have made a real impact on society, members, and the work of staff at HAE EHA. They are the Plant & Hire Aid Alliance, Mental Health Charter and Ordinary Magic.

The war in Ukraine is now in its fourth year, and the humanitarian suffering continues. The Plant & Hire Aid Alliance has been working tirelessly across the industry to provide humanitarian support. In addition to raising funds to send generators to Ukraine, HAE EHA supported the fundraising event held at JCB. The Plant & Hire Aid Alliance has also been collecting Christmas gifts to send out to children in Ukraine.

HAE EHA CEO, Paul Gaze and his wife Denise had the privilege of taking part in one of the Plant & Hire Aid Alliance’s Christmas ‘Wrapathon’ events over the weekend of 22nd and 23rd November, at Claydon High School in Ipswich. With the support of Rotary International to handle the logistics, these gifts make a real difference to young people in Ukraine.

Paul said, “It was quite humbling to be able to play a small role in the work of The Plant & Hire Aid Alliance through wrapping Christmas presents for children in Ukraine. Could I say a huge thank you to Jeremy Fish, Gareth Clements, Joshua Line, Toni Peci, and Nikki Curtis and all the volunteers who made us feel so welcome at the Ipswich Wrapathon.”

The Wellness Agenda is a key part of the work HAE EHA supports, be it for our members and their staff or through the team at the Association. This work is led by our Learning and Development Officer, Nikki Wyllie. Two areas in particular have made a difference in 2025 and warrant support from HAE EHA.

Nikki said, “Offering mental health and wellbeing support to children and families across Solihull and surrounding areas, Ordinary Magic goes above and beyond to offer aid in many forms. They aim to reach the children who are ‘unreachable’, to ensure they offer early intervention at school or in a safe place, supporting those brilliant young minds and helping them on the road to a resilient future.”

The Mental Health Charter also supports the Wellness Agenda. Nikki Wyllie went on to say, “We have continued to work very closely with Michael Lloyd at the Mental Health Charter to deliver mental health training, not only to association members but HAE EHA colleagues as well. The Mental Health Charter also works and provides support in local communities.”

The Association would like to wish all its members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you in 2026.
