News Item: Team from Ardent Hire to Trek Yorkshire Peaks in Support of Exploration Charity

On Saturday 20th September 2025, Jeremy Fish and some of his colleagues from Ardent Hire will embark on a group trek across the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise vital funds for the Scientific Exploration Society (SES). This remarkable charity is dedicated to empowering young scientific explorers and adventurers around the globe by providing grants for essential research and environmental expeditions.

SES also plays a crucial role in funding the SES-Raleigh Explorer Bursary Award, which enables young, underserved people aged 17-25 to participate in fully funded Raleigh expeditions to breathtaking locations such as Costa Rica, South Africa, and Borneo. Last year Jeremy and his team, with the help of SES successfully sent seven young explorers on this life-changing journey, and they are determined to do the same again this year.

Founded in 1969 by Colonel John Blashford-Snell, one of the UK’s most prolific explorers, SES has made a significant impact towards conservation efforts. It was recently announced that His Royal Highness Prince Edward the Duke of Edinburgh became society’s first Royal Patron and, with his support, is more committed than ever to its mission. Through its initiatives, endangered species have been discovered, studied, and protected; indigenous knowledge preserved, and vital ecological systems conserved. SES has inspired generations of young scientists and explorers, instilling in them the importance of safeguarding our planet for future generations.

Jeremy and his fellow trekkers are keen for as much support as possible, to help them reach their target of £25,000. Every donation counts, and contributions will directly impact the lives of these young adventurers, helping continue the legacy of exploration and conservation that is so desperately needed today.
