News Item: Husqvarna Construction Introduces a New Generation of Air Cleaners

A New Generation of Air Cleaners to Assist with Capturing Airborne Dust

This launch includes the first two new air cleaner models: Husqvarna A 25 and A 45. Each model number refers to the square meters they cover based on an air exchange rate of 10 times per hour with a standard roof height of 2.5 metres.

Managing dust on a construction site in a safe and efficient way is a challenge, though it’s also a necessity. Dust and slurry are the results of cutting, drilling, grinding, blasting and demolishing concrete, brick and other hard construction materials.

The dust can contain crystalline silica, which can be hazardous when very small (respirable) particles are inhaled. In fact, Britain’s national regulator for workplace health and safety, HSE, refers to silica as “the biggest risk to construction workers after asbestos”.

“There is no doubt that exposure to construction dust must be taken seriously, and the perception of its consequences needs to change. That’s why we are proud to introduce this latest addition to our range of professional dust management equipment: a new generation of Husqvarna air cleaners that will make the fight against the invisible dust easier and more efficient,” says Christofer Swahn, Global Product Manager, Dust and Slurry Management at Husqvarna Construction.

The invisible in focus

Besides providing the foundation for a successful jobsite, an efficient air cleaning system is also essential for complying with different rules and regulations.

“Dust extractors capture most dust and slurry directly at the source. But it’s theoretically impossible to avoid particles being emitted into the ambient air. And this is where air cleaners come into play as a second line of defence against airborne particles. We strongly advise customers to consider incorporating air cleaners into their way of working, regardless of whether point extraction is being used. We believe the perception of air cleaners needs to change from accessory to necessity,” says Christofer Swahn.

The new air cleaners are lightweight and easy to transport and handle. Both are stackable with a locking mechanism and feature an intelligent and robust design compared with previous models. The design features convenient access for service or maintenance and an IPX4 classification, making decontamination, cleaning, and filter changes easier.

A multicoloured LED bar makes monitoring machine status from a distance easy. Since saturated filters can work less effectively (leaving hazardous dust in the air), this feature is designed to encourage and support on-time filter changes and maintenance.

The air cleaners come standard with a pre-filter and H13/HEPA filter, but they can easily be converted to three-stage filtration by adding a carbon filter to help remove airborne contaminants like odours, gases, smoke and other organic compounds.

All H13/HEPA filters are individually tested at maximum airflow capacity in our machines to provide optimal filtration of airborne dust.
