News Item: Sunbelt Rentals Continues Support for City of London Police Cycle Safety Initiative
Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland is continuing to support the City of London Police by taking part in a second Exchanging Places Cycle Safety event, helping to improve understanding between cyclists and HGV drivers and make London’s streets safer for everyone.
Taking place in the centre of London, the event, which took part on Wednesday 28th October, gave road users the opportunity to experience the road from a large vehicle driver’s perspective and learn more about the blind spots and visibility challenges professional drivers face in busy city environments.
The event builds on the first Exchanging Places session, which took part this Summer, where more than 70 cyclists climbed into one of Sunbelt Rentals HGV vehicles to see first-hand what drivers can and cannot see from their perspective. It forms part of Sunbelt Rentals’ ongoing commitment to improving road safety awareness and encouraging safer practices among all road users.
Mark Keily, Health, Safety and Sustainability Director at Sunbelt Rentals, said: “We’re pleased to continue supporting the City of London Police and the important conversation around road safety, By taking the time to see the road through someone else’s eyes, it can influence behaviours and decision-making in a positive way, helping to reduce risk and make our roads safer for everyone.”
By supporting a second Exchanging Places event, Sunbelt Rentals is helping to keep that conversation going, encouraging greater awareness, understanding and shared responsibility between drivers, cyclists and other vulnerable road users.
