Theft and fraud in the plant, tool and event hire industries is a problem that isn’t going away but if your business is a victim of this crime there are a number of things you can do:
Report the Crime to the Police: – Please report the incident as soon as possible to the local police, obtain a crime reference number and have the full description and serial numbers of the items to hand. You will need this for any insurance claims.
Share Information: Offering other hirers a heads up on thieves or fraudsters operating in your area is a way to make it more difficult for them to carry out further acts, and may help you recover any stolen equipment. Send an email to crimeassistance@hae.org.uk and we will do the rest.
Report the Crime to the Action Fraud: This the national policing reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime, where you should report fraud if you have been scammed, defrauded or experienced cyber crime in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
