News Item: The HireTrain Committee is Looking for New Members

HireTrain has developed a career path that supports people joining and developing their professions in the hire and rental sectors.

From one-day courses to vocational qualifications and degree-level programmes, all of which can be found along this path. With thanks to CITB, over the last 12 months members have claimed more than £200,000 in training grants and funding for programmes delivered via HireTrain.

The HireTrain Committee meets quarterly and is made up of representatives from hire companies across the member demographic. The aim of the committee is to lead the Hire Association to address gaps in training across all its supported industry sectors (plant, tools and equipment), and to source or offer advice on available funding.

Key agenda items can include:

  • Updates on Careers, Training and Assessment Activity
  • Improving the training provision infrastructure within Hire
  • Upskilling the current sector workforce
  • Findings from the ongoing member training surveys
  • The committee also relies on group feedback from hire companies to ensure HAE EHA is listening to the industry and offering the right courses and qualification programmes. Important topics for members are:

    • The Hire Controller (Plant, Tools and Equipment) Level 2 qualification
    • Ongoing development of new Training Standards
    • Funded training programmes for 2024 and beyond
    • There are currently some vacancies on the HireTrain Committee and HAE EHA would like to invite its members to get involved and attend the meetings, whether in person or online. Joining the committee is free, if you’d like to volunteer or you have any questions please contact Nikki Wyllie, Learning and Development Officer on 0121 380 4617 or email hiretrain@hae.org.uk.
