Komatsu and Safety Shield Global join forces to revolutionise site safety
Komatsu is proud to announce the launch of a factory-fit Human Detection System as an option on selected Komatsu UK-built Crawler Excavators, with factory calibration and full Komatsu warranty.

The system has been rigorously tested under common European jobsite conditions and achieves industry-leading detection accuracy, performing reliably across a wide variety of high-visibility and protective clothing colours.
Powered by Safety Shield Global
The technology is developed in collaboration with Safety Shield Global, a pioneer in safety solutions for industrial environments. Their software is designed specifically for heavy plant operations, combined with Komatsu’s machine architecture to deliver real-time detection of people around the machine.

Integrated factory-fit development
The Human Detection System integrates seamlessly with the existing KomVision camera and on-board controllers on Komatsu machines. A dedicated in-cab display and audible alert system provide operators with immediate visual and audible alerts when a person enters a defined risk zone around the machine.
As a factory-fit solution, the system benefits from seamless integration, factory calibration and validation, full Komatsu warranty and support, without the need for complex retrofitting.

The Human Detection System is available as a factory-fit option on selected excavators: PC170-11, PC210-11, PC240-11, PC290-11, PC360-11, HB365-3, and PC490-11.
