News Item: Do You Know Your State Pension Age?

The Hire Association is supporting an important government campaign to get people to check their State Pension age on GOV.UK.

About the campaign

The campaign is encouraging everyone to use the free State Pension age calculator on GOV.UK to find out their State Pension age.

Why does this matter?

Between April 2026 and March 2028, the State Pension age will gradually increase from 66 to 67. People born on or after 6 April 1960 will be affected.

By using the free State Pension age calculator on GOV.UK workers can find out their exact State Pension age by simply entering their date of birth. The ‘Check your State Pension forecast‘ tool will show participants how much they can get and if it can be increased, for example by filling any gaps in their record.

It’s also important to know that the State Pension doesn’t start automatically. The Pension Service will send a letter inviting people to apply around 4 months before they reach State Pension age.

How to help the campaign

Share the State Pension age calculator with staff and colleagues, and urge them to share it in turn with family and friends.
