Neil Bravery, Managing Director, SHC Hire Centres Ltd

Elected to the HAE Tools, Plant and Equipment Board 2022

I joined the Hire Industry 32 years ago and now run my own Independent Plant & Tool Hire Business with nine depots in North Yorkshire and the North West. I have extensive experience within the industry having worked for both National and independent owner managed businesses, so I have a clear understanding of the challenges all hire companies face and what the support the HAE can offer its members.

Having been a Board member of the Tools & Equipment Group for the last two years I have played a key part in the Association and have helped its members through active participation in all Board meetings. Since July 2021 I have been Chairman of The Association and continued the great work of my predecessor Brian Sherlock in helping steer the Board through the remainder of the pandemic and more recently the changes over rebated fuel. I have also assisted in the new partnership with Towergate in developing a robust Insurance offering to members called HireSecure.

I have helped lead the development of the Digger & Dumper Safety Working Group to drive change across the industry to eliminate fatal accidents. This has been a long process involving key manufactures, the HSE and the willingness from hire companies to come forward and help reduce accidents. This work is currently ongoing and has been delayed during the pandemic, however this extensive drive for safety will now be complete during summer 2022.

The Hire Industry is constantly evolving, at the heart of it The Association supports, promotes, and legislates for its members, with my Industry experience I want to continue to add value for the benefit of not only the Main Board but also for the Sub Boards such as Tools / Plant & Equipment and for our members in the EHA.
