News Item: HAE EHA Releases Updated SafeHire Specification at THS Committee Meeting
Throughout 2026 HAE EHA Certification Services, with the help of the British Standards Institution (BSI) has been working on a revised version of the Hire and Rental Industry Business Management and Service Quality Specification.
The guidebook, which explains in detail the SafeHire Private Standard and requirements for achieving certification, was last updated in 2019. The new specification has been subject to extensive revisions including:
The release was announced at the HAE EHA Technical Health and Safety Committee (THSC) meeting, held at the headquarters of Caterpillar UK in Desford, Leicestershire.
Carl Bartlett, Director of HAE EHA Certification Services said about the revised specification, “I conducted a full editorial review and revision of the SafeHire Private Standard to align it with modern legislative shifts and industry demands.
“Working closely with BSI who supported the standard’s original creation, I secured formal approval and executive sign-off for the update. This revision effectively translates high-level safety mandates into a practical, cohesive strategy for our sector.”
