News Item: HAE EHA Signs the Fair Chance Charter

In April 2025, Hire Association Europe (HAE EHA) proudly became one of the latest organisations to sign the Fair Chance Charter. Representing the UK’s hire and rental industry, HAE EHA recognises that the sector faces a dual challenge: a growing skills shortage and an ageing workforce. By embracing Fair Chance employment, the association is championing a more inclusive approach to recruitment, one that ensures every potential candidate is assessed on their skills, experience, and potential, not just their past.

HAE EHA’s commitment sends a powerful message to its members and the wider industry: building the future of hire and rental means opening doors to all talent pools, including those with lived experience of the criminal justice system. This approach not only broadens the talent pipeline but also strengthens communities and supports a sustainable, skilled workforce for years to come.

Paul Gaze, CEO of Hire Association Europe, said: “The hire and rental industry is built on dedicated, skilled people, and right now we face a real challenge in finding and keeping that talent. By signing the Fair Chance Charter, we’re making a clear statement: ability and potential matter more than someone’s past. If we want our sector to thrive, we need to welcome talent from every background and give people the opportunity to contribute to our industry’s future.”
