Hire Desk Operations - HAE New Entrant Training Programme

Hire Desk Operations - HAE New Entrant Training Programme

In Brief
This programme offers delegates a 5 week modular training programme and assessment for the NVQ level 2 Hire Desk Operations over an 18 month period with a focus on customer service and safe use and awareness of a wide range of tools and equipment.

More Detail
The scheme offers a 25 day training programme delivered in 5 modules over a series of five calendar-weeks. All of the training is delivered within the first 12 months and delegates then concentrate on building a portfolio of evidence to help them achieve their NVQ assessment. Training includes classroom sessions as well as several days hands-on tool and plant equipment practical instruction in controlled conditions. We typically stage two intakes throughout the year, usually in Spring and late Summer.

The next intake for the Level 2 Hire Desk Operative Applied Skills Programme will be in October 2019.

Our new entrant programme is part of the CITB suite of Specialist Applied-skills Programmes (SAP)  - as such learners receive additional support from CITB apprentice officers throughout their programme.  In addition the CITB provides the HAE with a training subsidy of £4000 for learners from CITB in scope levy registered employers (subject to eligibility checks).

The total training cost is £5600 plus VAT less the £4000 subsidy for CITB registered companies - the remaining balance of £1600 will be charged in two instalments as follows:

Schedule Charge
Before Programme Starts £850
Month 12 (for start of assessment - Month 13)    £750

The employer will also have to pay transport to the training venues and evening meal.

Any company can enrol employees on these programmes - for those not CITB in scope levy registered status then the full cost of £5600 will apply (we will provide a schedule of payments on request).

For those employers eligible for the CITB training subsidy the HAE can draw down CITB short duration training grants after the modules have been delivered - this can amount to £650 over the 12 month training period with monies being paid directly to the employer.  In addition there is the NVQ achievement grant of £600 - making the total possible grant of £1150 reducing the direct cost to £450 over 18 months (£1600 less £1150 grant).
