PRESS RELEASE: New Advice From HSE On The Use Hand-Arm Vibration Monitoring Devices

The HSE has produced some updated advice on the use of vibration monitoring equipment in response to a significant number of questions that have come through to the HSE’s concerns team.  This advice will soon be available via the HSE website but members can access the information by clicking here

The key changes are that HSE now issue comment on the use of tool monitoring devices such as wrist or glove mounted systems (see questions 7 and 8).  You will see that the general advice has not changed and that HSE still expects measurements to be undertaken in accordance with the relevant standards and procedures.  It was however necessary to provide some additional clarification for those considering the use of vibration monitoring systems.
