GAP Hire Solutions has excelled at this year’s Hire Awards of Excellence, scooping three awards including the headline Hire Achiever accolade during the ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane on Saturday 22nd April.
Organised by Hire Association Europe and Event Hire Association (HAE EHA), the awards represent the best hirers in the industry for plant, tool and event equipment. With a record number of entries in most categories this year, the judges faced some difficult decisions when pulling the evidence together and selecting the winners.
Kieran McCreery, Apprentice at GAP’s Kinning Park Lifting depot, was successful in the ‘Apprentice of the Year' category. Under the tutelage of Foreman James Boyce, their successful partnership has played an important role in Kinning Park’s achievement of being one of the best performing depots in GAP’s Lifting division.
Chris Ball, Workshop Manager at GAP’s Reading Plant & Tools triumphed in two categories - Workshop Manager of the Year and the highly-coveted Hire Achiever of the Year. Chris was recognised as the outstanding individual who shines above the rest as addition to his day-to-day activities, Chris is GAP’s “Product Evaluator” and is responsible for the technical evaluation of new products or enhancements to existing products. His informative and detailed reports help shape GAP’s highly successful sourcing policy and supplier selection.
GAP also came away with a ‘Highly Commended’ accolade in both the Plant, Tool & Equipment Company of the Year (Turnover over £10million) and Catalogue of the Year (Hard Copy) categories. In total, GAP had been nominated for a remarkable seven awards.
Managing Director of HAE EHA Graham Arundell commented: “Once again, the Hire Awards of Excellence proved to be a fantastic evening and gave us the opportunity to come together as an association and an industry to applaud our collective success.
“The awards were established to recognise best practice in the hire and event industry and it was particularly pleasing to see some of the industry’s independent hirers amongst the winners on the night.”
With eight divisions and over 130 locations nationwide, GAP Hire Solutions is the UK’s largest independent plant, tool and specialist equipment hirer.
GAP’s Operations Director (Plant & Tools) Mark Anderson said: “It was a fabulous evening, we are very proud of what we have achieved. Chris Ball, Dan Craythorn (finalist in the Workshop Manager of the Year category) and Kieran McCreery never look for praise or recognition but instead get their heads down and work hard. I am delighted that their commitment and ‘One Team’ ethos has been rewarded.
“Our employees are GAP’s number one asset and the key driver of our growth. We will continue to place the active training and development of our 1,600+ workforce at the forefront of our activities.”
