PRESS RELEASE: GAP tools up with Wacker Neuson

GAP Hire Solutions, the UK’s largest independent hire solutions company, has recently completed an additional £1m investment in fast-moving tools to ensure continuing availability of the best equipment in the tool hire market. Products purchased include hydraulic packs and breakers, compaction and concreting equipment, power generation and lighting, pressure washers and power tools. This outlay is in addition to the company’s ongoing capital expenditure on tools in 2018 which by the end of the financial year, will be north of £10m.

One of GAP’s major supply partners, Wacker Neuson, was involved in this investment which saw GAP spend more than £350,000 with the global organisation to meet increasing demand. GAP placed bulk orders for various equipment including breakers, plates, pokers and rammers. The two companies have experienced a steady increase in turnover over the past few years. Two years ago, in 2016, GAP had a landmark year with Wacker Neuson, spending almost £6m on compaction equipment and dumpers; this also was the same year that GAP purchased its 100th dumper from the supplier. The following year, in 2017, GAP confirmed a new three-year supply agreement for light compaction equipment which will run until March 2020.

Ken Stewart, GAP’s Head of Procurement, stated: “We are committed to providing our valued customers with state-of-the-art equipment which is readily available throughout our national depot network. GAP’s fleet holding is reviewed on a daily basis and we offer guaranteed availability for our ‘Top 100’ tools.

“A total of 200 purchase orders were placed with our key suppliers who were able to deliver almost immediately from receipt of order, and we appreciate their flexibility in being able to react quickly to our requirements.”

GAP deals directly with market-leading suppliers including JCB, Hilti, Stihl, Makita, Altrad Belle, Stephill Generators, Brendon Powerwashers, Atlas Copco and Saint-Gobain.
