PRESS RELEASE: GAP Hire Solutions Climbs Up The Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 List

Following another record-breaking year, GAP Hire Solutions has climbed 28 places in this year’s 13th annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table, ranking 142nd.

With an 11% hike in turnover to £175m and operating profit reaching £17.1 million, GAP was able to march up the list.

The league table and awards programme is sponsored by Grant Thornton and Lloyds Banking Group. It is compiled by Fast Track, the Oxford firm that researches Britain’s top performing private companies. GAP debuted on the list in 2016, ranked 170th.

GAP’s Joint Managing Director Douglas Anderson commented: “We take great pride in our inclusion in this year’s Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 listing. This achievement is testimony to the fantastic contribution of each and every one of our employees who have the passion to deliver innovative products and first-class service for our customers.”

Founded in 1969, GAP has grown from one depot focusing on plant hire, to eight divisions and over 140 depots located nationwide, establishing itself as the UK’s largest independent equipment hirer in the process. The company employs over 1,700 staff throughout the UK, an increase of around two-thirds over the last four years.

Chief Executive of Grant Thornton UK LLP Sacha Romanovitch praised the companies listed for their performance: “The Top Track 250 clearly demonstrates what can be achieved by exciting dynamic businesses. These companies think locally and act globally, they innovate to grow and embrace an entrepreneurial spirit that this country needs to secure a positive post-Brexit future. We can all learn a lot from the Top Track 250.”
