PRESS RELEASE: CITB Issue Advice to Support those Affected by the Collapse of Carillion PLC

CITB has issued the following advice about the work they are doing with the government and industry to support those affected by the collapse of Carillion PLC. Around 1,400 construction apprenticeships are at risk and CITB is offering grant and apprenticeship transfer incentives to their employer base in order to retain these learners. All Carillion apprentices have received direct contact offering support and to arrange a face-to-face discussion with a CITB apprenticeship officer. Events have been held with apprentices last week and there is also a dedicated email address and telephone number for apprentices seeking support:

carillion.apprenticeshipsupport@citb.co.uk or 0344 994 4010. To encourage employers to take on and retain Carillion apprentices, CITB will pay in principal in-scope employers an encouragement grant of £500, with a further £500 retention grant after 6 months. This is in addition to any apprenticeship grants an employer is entitled to.

CITB are also trying to help those at risk of redundancy as a result of Carillion's demise to find work with other employers and more details can be found here

Also, UK Finance has published a list of banking contacts for SMEs facing financial challenge as a result of the Carillion insolvency. This can be found here
