PRESS RELEASE: Build UK and DWP Improving the Image of Construction

Build UK and DWP are working together to change young people’s perceptions of the construction industry and inspire a career in the industry by launching a Guide to Successful Work Experience.

The launch took place on Thursday 10th May at Yellow Pavilion, Wembley which saw presentations from James Wates, CBE, Wates Group Chairman Suzannah Nichol MBE, Chief Executive of Build UK and Alok Sharma MP, Minister for Employment.  Mark Bradshaw representing HAE EHA's Policy and Public Affairs attended the event and is pictured in the photograph with  Alok Sharma MP, Minister for Employment.

Work experience can be a great way to give people of all ages an initial taste of the industry, and provide a stepping-stone into longer term work or training.  The guide includes how you as an employer can ensure your legal obligations to health and safety are met.  And is designed to make it as easy as possible for employers to provide work experience placements - building on the excellent work many are already doing.
