News Item: UK Government Announces Levelling Up Plan
On Wednesday 2nd February the government published wide-ranging proposals to 'Level Up' parts of the UK. The details cover virtually every aspect of government.
The plan, which spans the period to 2030, includes significant commitments for infrastructure investment and changes to standards, such as rented homes. It has 12 UK-wide 'missions'.
There has been some criticism that the funding is not new but a combination of previously announced financial support. Also note, it is the intention to devolve more services to local government and to increase the number of elected mayors running combined authorities.
