News Item: The Digger and Dumper Safety Working Group Starts Action
The Digger and Dumper Safety Working Group was set up to focus on accident rates relating to diggers and dumpers, with the aim of working across the hire industry to improve safety for everyone by developing safety guidance and information around the use of diggers and dumpers.
On Tuesday 30th November 2021 the Digger and Dumper Safety Working Group met at JCB’s Quarry in Ramshorn, near Stoke-on-Trent, to film the first of the new safety videos.
The filming included videos for both a micro / mini excavator, a 1 Tonne dumper, and a walk behind dumpster. Further filming will take place in the New Year to include additional machines from a number of other manufacturers who are part of the Working Group. This is to ensure the videos cover a wide range of products hired within the sector.
Paul Gaze HAE EHA CEO said 'It was great to get the first part of the filming undertaken. When completed the videos will be a resource to help spread the safety message across the industry. I would like to thank Aaron Watson from Travis Perkins, Paul Williams from JCB and Ian Jubb Photography'.
We will be in touch with Working Group members to establish the next filming schedule for the New Year.
HAE EHA also asks members to provide crucial information and report any incidents relating to Digger and Dumper Safety. This information is confidential and will be used only to identify trends and allow us to address this issue, please visit the Incident Reporting Page".
