HAE EHA's Main Board of Directors is pleased to confirm that Paul Gaze is appointed Chief Executive Officer of Hire Association Europe and Event Hire Association with immediate effect.
Paul became CEO Designate in September 2020 after Graham Arundell took the decision to step down after 13 years. Graham continued to work alongside Paul during an initial transition period which is now complete, allowing Paul to step fully into the role as CEO.
Paul joined the construction industry via a specialist craft apprenticeship in the 1980's and has worked in a range of technical and managerial roles. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Building Management from Northumbria University, an MBA from the University of Sunderland Business School and is a Chartered Builder and Chartered Building Engineer.
When he joined the association in 2018 he brought with him over 30 years of industry experience, more than half of which was spent working at the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). He is highly experienced working with specialist employers, has played a pivotal role in the development of national training standards, specialist apprenticeship and up-skilling programmes, and he has a proven track record for engaging with government agencies on projects.
Paul's passion for hire and the wider construction industry lead to his creation of the Hire Skills Pledge which aims to protect and promote careers and staff development. Working with DWP and JobCentre Plus enormous efforts were made to reach much wider job-seeker demographics with the aim to draw them into the sector and boost recruitment.
Paul had this to say: "I was delighted to be named as the CEO Designate back in September 2020 to lead the association and drive the business strategy forward. I am therefore thrilled to become the full-time CEO from April 2021.
"We need to build and maintain relationships with key influencers and stakeholders, and continue working with Governmental agencies and groups to raise awareness of and standards within the hire and rental and the events sectors.
"It is essential that during these challenging times through the Tool, Plant & Equipment Board, Event Equipment Board and the Supply Chain Board, we drive forward the sectors agenda to support the Associations members."
