On 22nd November 2023 the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, will publish an economic update alongside a financial report from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR). This Autumn Statement is being keenly awaited given the current economic downturn and persistent high inflation.
HAE EHA has submitted comments to the Treasury in advance of the Statement focusing on its participation in the Leasing Working Group, but also key sector issues such as skills, crime and supply chain pressures. The submission emphasises the connection between allowing hire businesses to claim full expensing, at whatever level, for capital investment, and boosting the uptake of greener equipment.
There is also a request for targeted support for the events supply chain as it recovers from the impact of the various lockdowns and restrictions on events since 2020. The importance of the events sector is made clear, to employment and to the economy, for events of all types and sizes. To view the submission document click here.
