News Item: GAP Picks Up RoSPA Gold Award for the Second Consecutive Year

Errol Taylor, RoSPA Chief Executive, presenting Iain Anderson, GAP's Joint Managing Director with RoSPA 2019 award

On 12th September 2019, GAP's Joint Managing Director Iain Anderson and Senior SHE Advisor Malcolm Campbell collected the RoSPA Gold Award at a gala ceremony held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow.

Run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK offers organisations a prime opportunity to showcase their health and safety credentials, including practices such as strong and active leadership and workforce participation.

The Achievement Award is defined as ‘non-competitive’ and is based on GAP’s occupational health and safety performance assessed against the judging criteria. The accolade is further evidence of GAP’s continued commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of their staff and stakeholders, ensuring that everyone goes home safe and well to their families at the end of each working day.

Following the presentation ceremony, the awards dinner in Glasgow that night was the perfect opportunity for GAP and other top performing RoSPA award-winning organisations to celebrate their success. Entertainment was provided by renowned after-dinner speaker George McNeillis, followed by after-dinner live music and dancing.

The award has been achieved during a special year for GAP, as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. Established in 1969 by Gordon Anderson, the family-owned and run business has grown to become the UK's largest independent plant, tools, equipment and vehicle rental company. GAP employs over 1,800 employees across 142 locations throughout the UK.
