Mental Health Awareness Week Day 1 - CONNECT

Connecting to people is about relating and feeling understood by others. Evidence suggests that feeling close to or valued by others is a fundamental human need. For people of all ages, social relationships are crucial for wellbeing and can often improve our mental health.

This year, especially, it is important to connect with people (whilst staying safe) as much as we can.

Things to do to connect:

  • Talk to someone instead of sending an email
  • Speak to someone new / you don’t speak to usually
  • Ask a question and really listen to the answer
  • Put five minutes aside to find out how someone really is

Resources to Connect:

  • Clic - Free 24/7 online community to help thousands of people feel more connected and less alone. By offering resources and facilitating a safe environment where people can chat online
  • Connect Podcast - Connect podcast hosted by Mental Health UK
  • Lighthouse Club - Construction Industry Helpline (help with mental wellbeing)
