Sustainability

Sustainability is a key factor in the continued and future success of the hire industry. Tackling environmental concerns is good for business and our customers. Not only can it help identify, manage and reduce costs, it is also in tune with what private business, public bodies and individual customers want to see happen. The hire industry is well-placed to become a strong example of what can be done, whether implementing environmentally aware practices, investment in training and skills or promoting community engagement.

The Association recognises that many businesses, particularly small and medium size ones, require some additional support in making the most from this opportunity. We are working with a range of partners to bring industry specific training and information direct to our members. In our recent survey of members, nearly 60% of respondents said that sustainability was important for their business, while nearly 90% agreed that sustainable policies and practices are important for the image of the hire industry.

The Association is also working with the European Rental Association to address sustainability challenges Europe-wide. We see that businesses across all sectors of the economy have common interests and that promoting and implementing sustainable business practices is a unifying theme.
